Jitu-Hina pair clinched the shock gold, defeated Russia 7-6 in ISSF World Cup
GABLA AZERBZANI: Jitu Rai and Hina Sidhu of India won the gold medal by defeating Russia 7-6 in mixed team category final of the ISSF World Cup 10-meter air pistol event here on Monday (June 12) here. France won the bronze medal of the competition by defeating Iran by the same score. Earlier, on the fourth day of the competition, Jitu and Hina kept 12th and 9th positions respectively in the qualifying round of the men and women's 10-meter air pistol and missed the place in the final.
Only the top eight players reach the finals. Although mixed team event this year is not included in the World Cup medal table this year, it has got approval for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic medal event. This is India's second gold medal in the World Cup. Earlier he had won a gold medal in New Delhi earlier this year.
